Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Ranch is a special place in Uganda where you can see rhinos up close. It is the only place in Uganda where wild rhinos live freely. Located in Nakasongola District, about 176 kilometers north of Kampala, this ranch is a perfect stop on your way to Murchison Falls National Park.

Ziwa Rhino Ranch was started to bring back rhinos to Uganda. Years ago, rhinos became extinct in Uganda because of poaching and war. In 2005, rhinos were brought back from Kenya and the United States. Today, the ranch is home to over 30 white rhinos, living in a safe and natural environment.
What to Do at Ziwa Rhino Ranch
The most exciting activity at Ziwa is rhino tracking on foot. A trained ranger will guide you through the bush to find the rhinos. You will walk close to them, sometimes just 10 meters away. It is very safe and unforgettable.
But rhinos are not the only animals at Ziwa. The ranch also has:
- Over 300 species of birds – a paradise for bird watchers.
- Antelopes, bushbucks, and warthogs.
- Shoebill stork tracking in the nearby Lugogo Swamp.
- Nature walks, night walks, and canoe rides.
