What Does It Take To Hire A Driver/guide?
The extra cost of hiring a driver in Uganda is $40 per day and all the profits go to the driver. This cost even covers his meals and lodging. You do not need to organize lodging for him, as the lodges have buildings for the driver/guides where they can eat and nap for a lowered rate. In case you go on a camping safari, we even provide your driver with camping gear. As there are no structures to eat elsewhere inside the national parks, we request that you provide food for your driver and cook your dinners together. Most drivers are lovely bush chefs and understand how to create a campfire.
When you enter a national park with a driver, you have to pay their entry fee of $2 – $5 per day relying on the park. Note that fuel remains your own cost. The car is provided with a full tank and you bring it back with a full tank.
Questioning whether you should hire a driver for the game drives in the Ugandan National Parks? Alternatively, you can still pick up a game ranger at the national park entry gates, to assist you see the wildlife nicely. This costs $20 and can just be arranged at the park gate.
