What is the best time to visit the Maasai Mara? Well, it depends on what you want, wildebeest migration or wilderness feel. Your choices will help you through the seasons:
- The peek season is from mid-June – October. When millions of wildebeests are in the Masai Mara, it attracts many travellers as well.
- High season from November – February. Much of wildlife and travellers.
- Shoulder season from March to May. Rainfall season, so be ready to get stuck in the mud. However, if you are a bit reliant, this is a wonderful season to discover the Masai Mara. Wildlife viewing is still good, and fewer people implies you have more to yourself.
The Masai Mara gives perfect wildlife viewing year-round. With the best will in the world, you can never be guaranteed to coincide your few days in the Masai Mara with the crossing and taking this sought-after scenic of a crocodile having a crash wildebeest in its jaws. Expect to pay extremely high costs for the Mobile Campsites that are located near the Mara River crossing, and to see many of the other safari vehicles lined up. The Masai Mara sector receiving the least visitors is the Mara Triangle, mainly the western part.
