What Is A Gorilla Permit?

If you want to visit gorillas in the wild, you will require a Gorilla trekking permit. This permits countries to manage the amount of people visiting gorilla groups. It even permits national parks to increase the money required to save these endangered primates. The Gorilla permits offer entrance to one trek and one hour with the gorillas. The length of the walk may change depending on where the gorillas are on any given day.

In Uganda, this involves Bwindi Forest Impenetrable National Park, which has about 20 habituated gorilla groups. It even applies to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, which just has one or two habituated groups. Numbers can vary as gorilla groups regularly separate (and, less often, connect).

What Is a Habituation Permit?

Habituation permits permit travellers to take part in the habitation process. This applies slowly enabling wild gorillas to feel relaxed in the company of humans, which is important for tourism. The permits are more costly because visitors spend four hours with the gorillas than only one.
